Looks like the old saying that March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb is about to be falsified as a moderately strong storm impacts California and the rest of the West Coast. Per the latest models we are looking at roughly 1/2 an inch for the entire week for the urban areas and up to an inch and a half for the highest elevations of the North Bay Area in NorCal and about the same amounts are applicable to SoCal urban areas and higher elevations. Previously I mentioned that there could be some windy conditions, however that does not seem to be the case now as the models have backed off on the strength of the winds. My forecast for this weeks rain totals for selected cities:
San Francisco(SFO): 0.50-0.60"
San Jose(SJC): 0.25-0.35"
Los Angeles(LAX): 0.30-0.40"
San Diego(SAN): 0.45-0.55"
Snow levels should be near 2000ft in NorCal to 3000ft in SoCal with the coldest and most vigorous of the now 3 waves that are coming through. Look for only minor snow accumulations on Bay Area peaks with up to 2-3" on Mt Diablo and Mt Hamilton. As for the t-storm pottential that should be the biggest story with these storms and at this point there is a distinct possibility that we could see some SV WX with the Wednesday storm in the Central Valley. I'll update this possibility on Tuesday and give out more details then, but at the moment that looks to be a serious threat with this storm.
