More Heat Ahead

After a hot and sultry weekend last weekend with temps at 103F(39C) at Sac EXC and 106F(41C) in Redding, 108F(42C) at Red Bluff things look to heat up once again this weekend as the Independence day festivities get under way. We may end up seeing very similar temps to what we saw last weekend the only difference here is that the heat is expected to last several days( models are suggesting a 5-7 day event here) for NorCal. Intense heat is not unusual for the Mediterranean climate that resides in California and the expected heat is not extraordinary or record breaking. In fact it's only about 10F above normal so nothing too unusual. Records for the region range from 110-115F or from 43-46C and in some places at 118F (48C). The Napa Valley should see temps in the 90's with Sunday and Monday being the hottest days with temps in the 95-98F range or 35-37C range. I'm expecting Sacramento to have highs in the 100-103F range and Redding/Red Bluff to be in the 105-108F range. Fresno and environs should be at the same with Sacramento. San Francisco will even be warm with temps in the low 80's which is above normal. In fact even there the temp will be warm for several days and stratus free skies will continue. A very hot summer so far for NorCal and it's only the beginning, just like RWS has forecasted.
