The Coldest Winter is a Summer Spent in Coastal California

As Mark Twain once said: The coldest winter he spent was a summer in San Francisco and this year it's not just SF that is getting the "cold shoulder". We are seeing cool temps across most of coastal CA for the past two weeks now with temps no better then the low 80's in the inland parts of the East Bay Area and no higher than the mid 90's in the Central Valley. Looks like things will remain cool as well for now as we see a trough of low pressure anchored off the coast keeping the onshore flow strong and thus cooler temps. No wet wx is expected as this is summer but the cool temps will continue. If there is any hope for some warming it will be next weekend where some of the models are suggesting a strong ridge beginning to form and bringing in much warmer wx to the area. Since this is long-range and the performance of the models has been sub-par this summer so far, we will have to wait and see what happens in the coming days. I'll post more about this next time.
